Certificate III/IV programs: AUD $5,000-$12,000 per year

Academic entry requirements for NSW TAFE are generally more accessible than for university programs:
Academic: Completion of secondary school (Year 12 or equivalent) for most programs; some Certificate programs have lower academic requirements
English language: IELTS 5.5 for most Certificate and Diploma programs; IELTS 6.0 for Advanced Diploma programs
Age: Minimum 18 years for most programs (some exceptions)
Prerequisites: Some professional programs (nursing, engineering technology) have specific prerequisite subjects
NSW TAFE also runs English pathway programs for students whose IELTS score is slightly below the direct entry requirement. Completing an English language course at TAFE and then transitioning to your main program is a recognised and popular pathway.
The University Pathway

TAFE qualifications can support skilled migration applications, but the pathway is generally less direct than for university graduates. The key considerations are:
TAFE qualifications are assessed by the relevant skills assessing body for your nominated occupation - some occupations accept TAFE-level qualifications for a positive assessment; others require a bachelor's degree or above
Points for qualifications in the SkillSelect system are awarded for bachelor's degree or above (15 points) - a TAFE diploma alone does not attract the same qualification points
TAFE study in Australia does attract the 5-point bonus for completing study in Australia, which applies to all CRICOS-registered qualifications
